Youth Workshop

Working with artist Helen Flanagan as part of creative schools “Creative Clusters” program, we made a radio show with 4th class students in Dublin based Deis schools. I visited the classrooms and delivered workshops where we made some music using my KOII teenage engineering sampler. The students also wrote lyrics on themes they were given. I brought the music home and worked it up into some basic tracks and sent that back for the students to work their lyrics over. I then returned to the classroom to record the students vocal performances, brought them home, labored over them until I arrived at the music you can hear below. “Little Baby Squirrel” is a personal favorite.

It was a real joy to see the students getting into making the music, and surprising themselves with what they created.
